What's going on, y'all? Back at it again. Corpus Christi Originals here. This time uh Corpus and Coffee again. We're in uh choose wisely spot here at 5802 Woolridge inside the uh Texas Arena. Uh check it out, downstairs. Also, the brew today is by Abundantly Brewed. Uh they're upstairs, same place, 5802 Texas Arena. This is we got Zay's Dulce with us. What's up, man? Hey, what's up, man? How you doing? Pretty good. So uh what's up? So this is uh number two for you, huh? For the being on our podcast. Yeah. So far in the last two years, yeah. So you were doing the trap juice last time? Yeah. Cool. Oh, you're still doing the say Zays Dulce, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was just not doing it as heavy. Uh kind of took a little break. I was focusing on like cooking more, but it's only because of my schedules. Like some of the stuff's easier to do because candy I can do it, you know, at night for an hour or two or you know, a couple hours and be good with that.
SPEAKER_01So so cat the candy's easier to do because you have it at nighttime because you're working during the day. Uh schedule's kind of hectic. What it what are yourselves like so far? I've seen you, been seeing you like last night you were doing like an all-nighter.
SPEAKER_00Well, it was it, it was uh it was because like my schedule this week, I get off at four, but even at that, um I'm getting home and there's other stuff that I I gotta do first. The candy is always gonna be there. I just gotta make time for it. Like racing, like our dog, she got hurt and she wasn't doing too good. So, like, we're kind of like watching her. She had to stay in the room, couldn't we move? So we had to get make sure she was good, and I was like, Okay, let's we have to eat and we get off of work. So we're working the same schedule. Wow. So my girlfriend Julie gets off at work at like 4:35. I get off at four. So of course I'm like, Well, do you want to eat something first before we do anything? And we eat, then I get hit up and they're like, Hey, I need some candy. And they're like, Hey, do you want to go on a mission with me? So I'm gonna drop this off, take about an hour, and then I have to get more candy and then come back and make more. But yeah, usually I make it when she's asleep, so like we can still spend time together, at least you know, before she falls asleep, because then she has to wake up earlier anyway, so make it a little easier.
SPEAKER_01And so you you got the bag there. I see the bag there, bro.
SPEAKER_00You got the merchandise already. So that's the joke. I guess I don't know if y'all seen the the video that we dropped or whatever. Uh, I just thought it was funny because you know, the movies they have the bag and you know it has the goods in it. So I took it as like mine's always gonna have the goods. So if y'all see me pulling up with this bag, you know, there's something in it, pull it up and I'm gonna have some candy.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, put put put point right there at the camera.
SPEAKER_00Right now, this is the this is the old label. I'm gonna use them till I run out because I had ordered a thousand labels, nice somewhere. So I want to make sure I go through those first. But the new ones are gonna look a lot better. I posted on Facebook, it's gonna have like each individual, like that one's the gushers. I'm gonna have uh like this one's sour straw. So I'm gonna have the sour straws logo on that one. Um, each one's gonna be individually, like post it so at least you know which one's which.
SPEAKER_01So if y'all have not tried these, y'all, these are dope as hell. The gushers are my favorite. I tried them last time you were here on the podcast, man. Dude, they were freaking dope. So, the people that don't know who you are, who are you and and what what do you do?
SPEAKER_00Uh well, my name's Isaiah. Um, I go by Zay a little bit quicker. It's not as hard to pronounce sometimes. Um, I'm from Houston originally. Um, I've always loved Corpus. My family's from here. Um, so no matter what, I still showed love and I still always came here to visit, even in the summers and stuff. Um but me, I'm just a normal guy, but I love I love food. I love food, I love snacks, and that love that I had went towards like wanting to use it as you know, a way to make money. At first, it was just like, you know what, I'm good at it, let me make some money, cool, a little extra time. Because at the time when I started, it was during COVID.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00So, like COVID's were you know, you I don't know how your work was at the time. My job wasn't paying me that much at the time, it was just like a set price, and dude, that's all you had. I was like, I was bored, I wanted to do something. Wow.
SPEAKER_01Did you so did you stop working at that time?
SPEAKER_00No, no, I just uh so I worked at Team Mobile for two years straight while doing the candy. Um, so what I would do is the same thing I do now, I'll go to work, work my shift, get off at, you know, depending on what time I go in, get off at five, six, wow, eight o'clock, and then uh I would have it in the truck of my car.
SPEAKER_01So so what you knew people people were wanting to do stuff at that time during COVID, and you're like, well, shoot, this is a good time to start selling candy.
SPEAKER_00Well, it was you know how I mean I remember like it was yesterday because it was just a convenience, like that's that's always the key word in the stuff that I do because you gotta think about you're at home watching a movie with your girlfriend, she's you're like, Hey, I want the snack. She's like, I don't want to leave, and you're like, Well, like, let's go to the store. Like, I don't want to. So the things like either you're gonna DoorDash, you're gonna do something. So my case was I would just, you know, I was like, you order more than 20 bucks, I'll come and drop off to you. Like, and where I lived at every like each way was like, you know, 10-15 minutes, 20 minutes. Wow, so like it wasn't a big deal. Like, I would pull up, you know, either be when I'm off earlier in the day at lunchtime, or it'd be like after work or yeah, yeah, yeah. Getting off work, we'll meet up at McDonald's or something.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, dude. So it's like a hustle for you, man.
SPEAKER_00That's also yeah, because then it's crazy. Like, I was just thinking about it because I literally have a screenshot of I was gonna post it, I haven't posted it yet, but literally was so this is how it used to be. This is this is five years ago. Wow, that's how my trunk used to be. Dude, that's the start of the day.
SPEAKER_01Dude, he's got a picture of his trunk full of nothing but gut, and then this is like this is probably like three hours later, and it's like it's gone, dude.
SPEAKER_00And that's how it used to be. I would literally write up to the either a job site or whatever. Like, let's say you uh you worked at um a refinery, I'll pull up. Somebody was like, I want some candy. Yeah, I got some pull up. Hey man, y'all come check this out. 10-15 people line up, they're getting one or two bags, but everybody gets two bags, 10 people, that's already 20 bags gone within that time.
SPEAKER_01So it's like you said, convenience is is the key, man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So instead of them having to go to the store or whatever. But I mean, we use like what is a favor and all that other stuff too.
SPEAKER_00Especially for I mean, I do it myself, like especially like you know, sometimes we just like I don't fly driving or like you know, already I was out all day already, you know, just yeah, yeah, yeah. Kind of hang out and just I have other not other things to do, but like I like last night I had a project I needed to work on um for like church, and then I was like, I gotta knock this out first before I make candy because if I don't do it now, I'm gonna hate myself. I'm gonna have to turn it in tomorrow when I'm I don't want to do that.
SPEAKER_01Oh man, you need to it's so easy to just fall asleep, bro, and just not even yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, I did that, well, we did that Monday. We were watching TV and or she was watching TV and I'm over just dozing off already. I'm already, it was I was already dead. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I couldn't do it anymore.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, man. So what is what do you think you got that that worth that work ethic from as far as because you you work at a at a place where you do sales, right? And you obviously you sell your candy. What how did you get into like sales? Was it something you always wanted to do?
SPEAKER_00Or honestly, it wasn't even like well, I don't know. I could I could say it it was always like a calling because I I had seen a post. I think uh think DJ King he had posted it yesterday one day, or somebody had posted and he commented on I seen it. It said, What was your first hustle that you started doing? And they were talking about like CDs and stuff like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And um, I I did that too at one point because I would like download songs and stuff like that. I used like Dat Piff to download like yeah, you know, mixtapes and I'll resell the mixtapes. Wow. And then my mom used to work at the store. Probably any intro. We used to work at the store, but it was like a country store, they had no cameras, I would go in and borrow some gum. And at the time that the five gum was the the key snack or the key gum. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. So they had like the red one, the blue one, the green one. And like for some reason you always wanted gum at school. I don't know, everybody was always wanting it. So what I would always do, I would put it under the desk, right? Yeah, so I would uh I wouldn't buy it, I wouldn't pay for it, but but I would take it to school. I forgot how much I sold it for. I think I sold each pack for like you would sell the gum. I would sell the gum. I would sell the packs for like three, four bucks. Oh, and so I would take like you know, 10 or 12 packs, honestly, because each each case comes with like 12 packs of gum. So I'd take like half the pack from each flavor, take it to school the next day, but and then but I you know I reused the reinvested, so that money that I made from the gum, okay, I would go to Sam's and buy the candy bars, chips. Oh wow, and so I'd go to school the next day, flip it, make some candy, make some sales. I would I would leave school with like 20-30 bucks. Wow. I thought that was cool at the time, like that's what I'm on for nothing. If I go to the store, I could buy my own thing. And I did that probably like three or four times a week, and then it got to high school and it kind of veered off because we have vending machines, right? Okay, you nobody really like we have vending machines. Why am I gonna pay you you know two dollars for chips when it's 85? It's a competition, bro. That's that's where I kind of like okay, you know what you got me. But I got a real job at that point, so okay, okay, that's where that came into play.
SPEAKER_01So dude, dang. So you knew that so you I guess there was a need, and you were like, Okay, I can do something here to make some money.
SPEAKER_00But then like people started doing it in school. Like, I like I literally have a message from Instagram. This guy texts me, he's he's young. I haven't replied yet because I'm still trying to see, I'm gonna tell him. But he wants to see, hey man, I sell candy, I sell snacks at school. How would you like me to like sell your candy in schools? And I was like, I was like, I I mean, I don't mind it, but like I don't want to get you in trouble. Like, because a lot of schools are trying to do they'll they'll say it's soliciting as long as you're not doing it during like class hours. Well, if you're doing it in between class or like at lunch, then you're fine. But I don't want them to you know get in trouble and like whose is this? And yeah, I don't I don't I don't know. I have to think about it before I say this.
SPEAKER_01Dude, oh my gosh. So how far are you do you think from like having like your own shop? I mean, what you know what I mean? How how far are you from that? Do you think?
SPEAKER_00I mean, so like the candy is great. I love the candy. The candy is what kind of got me in a lifestyle that I love. I love the the people I've met. Like honestly, if if you take out the candy that that I don't do, I wouldn't meet half the people that I knew. As in like the artists, the the the famous people, the you know, the podcast people, any of that. Like you take that away, and I'm just a normal guy that's that's nice, can it's easy to talk to. I that would like still support any businesses that are like around. Like, I still did that beforehand, but becoming somebody that has a business or has a mindset, like, okay, like I want to sell this, make some money, promote somebody, like that kind of just got me into a space where like I can do this.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so what yeah, at what point did you start this like figure out that okay, this is more than just selling, making money to that point where you're like, Oh, it's relationships with people.
SPEAKER_00I think honestly, if I think back, I think it was uh I went to uh my friend, he was like a local artist. He he was performing as a feature for somebody's song, and he had invited me out. And mind you though, I had just did an event that day before, and I was man, I was when I say I was tired, I was could barely stand, I was so exhausted. But I told him I would because I had some merch at the time, I had some shirts and some hats and stuff like that. And he's like, Hey man, like I really want to like support you, like I'll have a show, like I'll I'll pay for you to come in. Like, you don't have to pay to come in, like I just want you to support me. I got you. It was like so I gave him some candy, gave him some shirts, and leading up to that, I had just did actually wait, let's pause that part. Probably a month beforehand. I had done the candy competition, which it's crazy in Houston, it's where lifestyles were like candy competition, yeah. That's that's what caught me. Like, I didn't know that was a thing. Wow, I got invited to my first one, and I didn't know anything about it. I was like, okay, cool. Like, you're just who has the best candy. I thought that was cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is.
SPEAKER_00I didn't know there was shit. Honestly, there's probably man, I already lost count how many businesses like that have Chamoy candy or kind of snacks.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna say, was it all that type?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like it was a lot there, and I didn't realize those people from like Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, stuff like that. I didn't realize the market until I officially like started getting more into it. The only people I knew at the time was called Yum Yum Candy, and they're based in Houston. And I only knew who they were because they've gotten to the scene where they do like the drop trucks, the race cars, yeah, okay, stuff like that. Like, oh, so in coinciding with that type of again. Yeah, so like I was like, cool. I love trucks, I love cars, I love you know nice things. Like, all right, cool. So I was like, man, I'm gonna do the same thing. Like, they're doing they're more in Houston. I was in Conor, so I was 45 minutes away, and we kind of did those things in Conor. So I was like, you know what? Let me try to do the same thing they're doing in a little town and see if I can get somewhere. I thought that was cool. I thought maybe I'll you know meet somebody. Well, that first competition, I didn't know anything about it. She I could probably pull up pictures. I'm selling my menus on a poster board my sister's made out of paper, and cool, and like I'm having little baskets with little sample pieces in it, and and people don't know who I am in Houston, so they're like, Oh, what is this? But then I started catching a little attention because people were like, Oh, that tastes good. Like, yours doesn't taste like this person's tastes better. And the the competition was based off like I think it's like flavor, of course, and it was like presentation, this night. My presentation, I didn't know what I was doing. I was just throwing shit in like in a cup and giving it to them. I didn't know it was like you know, at least it tastes good at that point. I just cared cared about the taste. Yeah, I always I still do that now, but now I get it. If it looks good, it has to taste better.
SPEAKER_01So right, right, right.
SPEAKER_00But that first one, as that's where I was like, damn, I didn't place at all. Like they tested everything, they they judged it, they gave us like 20 minutes, they came back, or like if it was like first, second, third, and I didn't place at all. I was like, damn. I was already like, well, at least I tried, right? I was I mean, I'm probably gonna do it again. So I was already discouraged because I was like, man, it's like I didn't realize how hectic it was gonna be. The then what got me was after was the two of the judges, which one of them was the judge for yum yum candy. They're the they're the candy that I was like trying to be like.
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_00Kind of like a framework where it took. Yeah, yeah. They they came to me after and they were like, Hey man, look, I know you didn't place, but yours tasted amazing. They're like, it wasn't anything against you. Wow, they were like, yours taste good. Can we buy some stuff?
SPEAKER_01The young yum, the the group from Yum Yum and I and I was like, Oh shit, like it threw me off.
SPEAKER_00Like, I was like, Oh yeah, like I was like when I didn't win, I was already mad. Like I was already putting shit up, I was throwing stuff up, I was already mad. I was already like, pull the car up. You're a competitive person, in a sense, because I know what I can do. Okay, if like no one doesn't like say anything about it, like if they don't even recognize what I did, it kind of makes me feel some type of way. But at that point, I was really young, I was young, but I was like, I I'm learning everything I'm learning. Right, right, right. So once the competition was done, but when they came back and they said that, I'm like, oh shit, like I was flustered, and I was trying to figure out like what what could I do to make it better? And they're like, No, no, everything was good. It's just we didn't give you the rules of like what how we wanted presented, we didn't tell you everything exactly how to do it. And I was like, Yeah, I was like, my bad for not following the steps. Like, that's that's my fault too. But they bought I had I used to make this bacon, uh not bacon, what the hell uh fruit roll-up wrapped, uh loaded pickle. So it was uh it was a like two dill pickles. I was loaded pickle, bro. Yeah, so I would I would wrap it and I would like coat it with my chamoy and then my seasoning, so it would be like a little layered on there, and I would slice it up with a real thin, and then I would put my sauce on it. Then I'll throw some like uh what's it called? Squinklies or whatever from like Lucas, throw them on top with some uh Damn, they're like peanuts from uh Takis or whatever. I'll throw them on top of the show and load it. So and people loved it, like that thing right there, like the best snack to have. Like if you love pickles and chamoy, like that's the main thing. Oh, yeah, dude. My my wife loves that stuff, dude. And um, when I did it, I thought it was a cool snack, but then that's what they bought. They bought they bought two of those, and they bought some gushers, and they're like, Man, we love your gushers and we like your Skittles. So I was like, Okay, cool. So they spent like 50 bucks on me. Wow, I was like, cool. So at the end of that day, I was like, Man, like I felt a little accomplished because I made some money and then they recognized who I was. They followed me on Instagram, and the turning point of that was where I met Chingo Blink for the first time. Okay, but I didn't know it was him because he wasn't like in a in an outfit. His wife has a brand that's called like forgot what it's called, but it's like uh merch brand, but it's for like female, like Latina Power, stuff like that. He was there supporting her because she was a judge for that competition, the candy competition, yeah. So it was like three judges, one was yum yum, it was her, and some other like I think a smoke shop that was hosted. Yeah, it's dope, man. So and they even said too, like, hey, can we can we buy some stuff for me? I was like, Cool. I was like, Yeah, yeah. So I knew it was him, but I didn't know it was him. I had asked my friends, like, man, I think that's shingle blink. They said, Man, you're crazy, he wouldn't be out here. Like, we're like in the ghetto of Houston, like he was like, You wouldn't be out here. I was like, So I was like, All right, whatever, left it alone, still sold it to them. It wasn't until like two days later on Instagram, like, Man, I met Shingo Blink as the same dude. I said, I told you I was him, and then we're all mad. But then, so I saw it was the skirt that one, so that was probably in like January, like early January. I had got asked to do a second candy competition there because it was one of the comp competitors they did their own. They're like, Hey, we want you to come out there because we know you did decent. Like, so I was okay, cool. Who's that?
SPEAKER_01Uh it was uh they so they invited you out to another competition, okay?
SPEAKER_00Their name was um they're called Trap Sauce. Okay, Trap Sauce, which they didn't really do candy, they did like uh Michelalas. What year was this? 21. Okay, before COVID, it was after COVID. That's when okay, okay. This is when people were barely starting to go back to bars, okay. Okay, and this is where stuff started to open up a little bit. Wow, so this is 21. And um, so 21 is whenever they invited me to the second competition, and they're like, Yeah, like you do what you did, like we'll tell you exactly what you're gonna do. So, man, I went all out. I bought little Mexican flags to put on the candy, I bought paper to present it better, I bought little baskets to put the candy on. Yeah, I knew I was like, I'm gonna make sure I place or do something, but I'm still gonna keep the same flavor, everything's still gonna be the same tasting wise.
SPEAKER_01Talk about a learning life lesson, man. Learning the lesson.
SPEAKER_00And uh that first one what was and then leading up to it, I knew the judges were because it was like dope house records. Okay, that was and like that right there is the SPM. Like growing up in Houston, that's like your you know, that's the artist you grow up listening to with friends and family, yeah. And I thought that was cool. I was like oh my cool, I get to meet you know somebody from dope house. And then wow, it was I forgot there's some other judges, but it was a SPM son, and I had never met him before anything like that. And I thought it was cool. So I ended up winning second place in that competition on over like out of like 12 or 13 people, I think. And I thought it was cool. Wow the first place, the only thing that first place won that still kind of gets me to this day, but I'm not gonna lie, it was really good. He makes these cherry bomb, like just as much as the gusher, they're cherry bomb like candies, but he uses the juice from the cherries in his chamoy specifically for them. And I'm not gonna lie, that right there was dang. I mean, I would have won first place too if I would have had something like that because it tastes good. Wow, it just hits a little different, but it's like a little sour kick, and but he coats it. So mine are like sprinkled and glazed on it, his are like coated. Wow, as much as I don't really like the coated stuff because that's too much.
SPEAKER_01His was like the perfect ratio to put it coated like to where it's hard, like hard.
SPEAKER_00No, it wasn't hard, it was just like it was still soft enough. Like if you bit it, yeah, yeah, yeah. You can taste everything. Like it wasn't like a hard candy, which was that's what I don't like when it's too hard, yeah, and it's too like it tastes too hard to like oh yeah, for sure. But break your teeth on that stuff. So he won that, but that dude was from Dallas, he wasn't even from Houston anymore. So I was like, damn. So he went in second. When me went in second, though, I thought even I just wanted a place. I didn't give Danville's 10th place, but but when in second opened up a lot of doors because winning after that winning that part, um SPM Son, his name's Baby Lowe's. He came around, he was buying stuff, and he's like, Man, I really like your Skittles. Cool. So he bought some from me. And at that point, I was like, Man, I'm gonna I'm gonna shoot my shot at any person that like wants to try this. Wow. So leading up to that, my friend had the competition he wanted me to go to, and and he's like, Hey man, come come hang out with us or whatever. Yeah, yeah, man. That's and I had an event the night before. I was like, Man, I was tired. I was like, fuck, I'll go for a little bit. And I knew about the event because they kept posting it, kept like reposting stuff on Instagram, Facebook, and I was like, Okay, cool, let's do it. I'll go for a few hours or whatever, show some love. And um, I didn't know um anybody that was there, but they would post some little clips of the artists that were performing. Yeah, and some of them were okay, some of them like eh, I probably wouldn't listen to them. And um, there was one artist on there that that caught my eye, and I thought he was funny. And I went to his YouTube and he only had like 5,000 views, 10,000 views. Turns out that was that Mexican OT at that show, and I was like, What? The second show you were at, yeah, okay, and uh I didn't know who he was. Nobody knew who he was. He reached out to or you found him. I found him on accident. Okay, okay, and um, but that was his first time really coming out and doing music live because oh wow, when he got there, I was like, Who is this dude? This dude's wearing a poncho, uh hat, boots, and a grill, and he's like five foot four. I was like, Who is this dude? And but he had a whole entourage. When I tell you, you had a whole entourage, he had like 15, 20 people, and he had the whole little crowd, and I was like, Man, he must be good or whatever. And like I was waiting for him to go on. I kept seeing his clips. I wanted him to perform, and I was waiting. It was already like 10:30, 11 o'clock at night. I'm tired. Well, they he never performed, I didn't see it until I left, and I felt stupid because I ended up leaving. He performed probably like an hour later. Um, he ended up winning that competition. Wow, him winning that competition opened up doors for him. And I mean, y'all look where he's at now. He's the top pist player. But leading up to that, he's the most person that I would give. Any gratitude to is because I I mentioned it to somebody, I was like, Man, if there's anything I do, I'll go back. Like, I just want to meet him. I said that to one of the producers or whoever's doing the show, and he's like, Hey, he's doing his music video. He's like, I want you to come out to get the video. I went, man, I brought everything. I brought candy. I brought honestly, I brought ARs, I brought all kinds of stuff. Crazy. I went to it and he's all like, Man, ARs? Yeah, I did. Like a social, social.
SPEAKER_01They weren't loaded, they weren't loaded, but but the only reason I didn't do that's funny, man.
SPEAKER_00But but the only reason for sure. But I did it because he yeah, his videos he had he had guns, yeah, stuff like that. Right, okay, okay, okay. So I was like, Let me proud or whatever. I was like, let me bring something to bring, like make him know that I'm I'm a cool dude to hang out with, right? Like something. And so I brought it. So I was like, Oh man, thank you. He's like, we're gonna use these in the video. Okay, cool. And me, I was that was very early on. I didn't really want to be in music videos, I just cared about the the candy. I was like, put it in the video.
SPEAKER_01I thought okay, so so so initially making that like that taking that step right there. You felt that that was gonna be good for your business. I mean, what was what was the whole inspiration for you behind that?
SPEAKER_00I just wanted the candy to be in the video. That's all I cared about.
SPEAKER_01So they so people could buy more. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So they can they can know it wasn't just like marketing tip or whatever, whatever. Well, that's what I learned. I learned that was the first marketing skill I got was like, you know, if you look at anybody's music video, you see they're wearing a certain brand, um, drinking a certain drink, okay, yeah, a certain item. You're like, damn, they're eating that. Like, man, I want to try to do it.
SPEAKER_01Social predator or whatever you call it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so like I was like, you know what? Let me try. Let me if he can put my my candy in his video, that's fine. And his first video that I'm in, my candy van's in it where I used to deliver candy and it's in it. He's eating the candy. The the girls that are in the video, they're eating the candy. Crazy. The other artist is messing with the candy bags. Like, I thought that was cool, and I was okay, like this is gonna help somewhat. And then that connection led to eating dinner after the video, and we just spoke on like being person to person, and that opened up doors to this day, and like that's probably the biggest thing, and it's not just to him. After him, I started like asking other artists, like, hey, I do this, I sell candy. Is there any way that I can come hang out with you, or can I bring you a package? And they said, Yeah, yeah, man, come bring here's my address. So, like, I have I ain't trying to say like I have everybody's address, but like the artists that I care about, I have their addresses to go. Like, if I were to go to Heather, like like there's like probably two of them, like Brick Wolfpack and GT Gars are like the only ones that really showed any appreciation. Like, I'll go hang out with them for a few hours and we talk about music, you know, events and all their new albums coming out or stuff they plan on doing. But those are just as friends things. I didn't really post those things back in the day. I have videos of it of like on a personal level, but I don't have it like on social media as much. I I I cared enough to to know I did something cool like that. Yeah, I wasn't trying to all look, I'm bragging like I'm hanging out with it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, for sure, man. Do you feel like you you're you're you're still trying to you're still doing using that marketing tactic nowadays? And how how do you apply it if you're still using it today?
SPEAKER_00Well, my thing is like I think well in that timeline I got too carried away with it. Okay, I started caring about more of the the social app. I didn't really I was selling candy, but like I was selling like maybe 10 bags a day at that point, and I was making 50 hundred bucks maybe, but wow, crazy, and so it slowed down and I cared about like because at that point I didn't even have to pay for nothing. I would just go to these events and hang out with them, and I thought that was cool, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But then I started realizing I'm wasting time, like I'm spending two, three hours just messing around when I could be using that two, three hours making a sell somewhere else, doing an event somewhere else, doing a pop-up somewhere else. But so I kind of messed up and I guess I got too hyped with it. And now that's why whenever I took the little break where I wasn't doing it as much, I'll do it a little bit. People would ask. I I'm thinking back now, like I've I've told Julie and I told her, I was like, man, you know what? Like I want to do this and I'm gonna do it the right way. If I open up the website to make orders, I'm gonna try to make them as soon as I can. If I have to work, I have to work. I have, I mean, I gotta sleep sometime. So like I'm gonna make time for that's why last night I was up till five in the morning. Okay, I could have slept, we could have gone to sleep together, but I knew at the end of the day, as long as I can get these orders out, we'll be able to sleep tonight together, we'll have dinner together, all that's knocked out. If I have anything else I gotta do, I can kind of push that a day or two later. Right, right, right. So I think now my focus is I want to make sure everyone knows what I do. Not because like I like I'm not gonna say all my this is what you need to eat every day, this is the best thing ever. Yeah, but I do think that this is the best product compared to a lot that's out there right now. Right, right. And I can say that proudly because I've tried those products, okay, and I see how they're made, and I feel like when I make my stuff, the quality and consistency is still the same. I've sold the same things to the same people I've sold five years ago when I first started. Like the when I opened up the website, this lady bought a hundred dollars worth of stuff, sent it to her, and she's like, it tastes exactly the same thing. So that's where I feel like I'm doing something right.
SPEAKER_01Or do you feel like you're making returns at this point? Uh and is it is it more than like your previous because you you're talking about when you were selling gum, right? That you would put the money back in to buy more gum. And that's like, at what point do you start taking for yourself? You know what I mean? Are you at that point? I mean, how yeah, what does it look like for you uh as far as that goes?
SPEAKER_00I mean, are you still learning that I'm learning even to this day? Like, we're I'm not saying me selling this right now was like, oh, I got all this extra two, three hundred dollars to to blow on yeah, you know, let's go to San Antonio for the week. Of course, yeah, yeah. The the money that I use from this, I I take make sure the house is good, like make sure we're paying stuff that we need to pay. Um, of course, like we have jobs, but like even at that, like you know, stuff happens, bills come expectedly, you know, Christmas just passed, we're still trying to pay off things with that. So what I'm trying to do is as long as I can take care of all of that and still reinvest some of the money. Like, let's say I all the money that I just made from today, I probably made uh about 200 bucks today. A hundred of that will go back into buying gushers, and then a hundred of that will just go towards yeah, yeah. So that's your money, that's what you're gonna use for and like I'll use it. Like if she's like, Hey, let's get something to eat, like, yeah, there's 30 bucks that we gotta go see and eat the rest of it. You know, we need to pay for meaning if our dog gets sick again, we gotta pay another hundred dollars for that. So, you know, we still have money, but like this extra income helps out a lot too, yeah, for sure, man. So, like if I have a good day, let's say I sell out, like let's say I walk out right now and someone's like, Hey man, I'll buy everything you have right now. Cool, yeah, give me 250 bucks.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so you gotta so you gotta get the casing, the label, the packaging, and all that stuff. Do you feel that at that point you have to up your price?
SPEAKER_00Well, I I didn't. So, like I'm not gonna lie, like me coming from the bags, because don't get me wrong, I was buying 350 bags for 20 bucks. Right. But I'm sitting on most of them because I don't sell those bags as much because I'm making a shit ton of I'm making at a time, maybe 100-120 bags at a time, if I'm really like locked in. And I started thinking, I was like, man, like I people want me to ship it, and I don't like that it's coming a little squished. I like the quality is what I care about. Like, I don't like I I'm like that with everything. I'm like that with my clothes, I'm like that with like food, even not even cooking it. Like, if I go somewhere, right, if the food is expensive, as long as it tastes good and the quality is there, I'll pay for it. I I'm not I'm not picky, but like I want people to say that with myself, like man, this this this ain't cheap. Like, you know, I'm gonna pay 10-15 bucks for this, but it's good, it's worth it. Yeah, for sure. So, like, I want it to have a quality taste, everything else, and so does the packaging. The packaging is simple, it's it's like a container, but in my head, is like yeah, the back back end of that is like if I throw this in a box right now and ship it to you, and if it's in the sun, it's not gonna melt and get stuck to you, like it's gonna stick together, but at least it's gonna be safe because it's a good thing.
SPEAKER_01Preserve it a little bit more, yeah, yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_00So I just wanted that to be a thing, like because right now, like the place where I get the cases now for this, I'm getting 120 of them for 40 bucks. So I mean the price is a little bit different, but yeah, people I don't think people realize it, like the amount of candy that's in that bag compared to here, it's doubled in the container. Oh, no kidding. So there's two bags and one container, and I could have went crazy and charged 10 bucks for it.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, for sure, man. So what are some piece some things that that people don't understand from your side of the your your side of the candy? Because people could just be like, oh, they charge too much, and have their you know what I'm saying? Like, what's something that we don't understand as consumers?
SPEAKER_00I mean, I don't honestly from what I've from when I started, because I when I started it was five dollar bags, like that's where I was that was that was me making like that was a good price. I mean everybody loved it, but even now I've on the website I've went up on the price, I edited it uh yesterday or day before, and even today. But at first I had people like, oh, it used to be five bucks, but then now I got people that are like, Man, I'll pay more. Like, I've I haven't really had anybody that was like, Oh, like I'm not gonna pay for that. Like, I was five dollars two years ago. That was two years ago. I was like, Are you still paying the same price for everything else too? Like, and I'm not blaming like inflation or anything like that. The fact is that we live in a world that you pay for the things you like. I mean, like I said, like you pay for like I'm wearing a $50 shirt and I really I really don't do that, but I wanted this nice shirt because I don't you're not gonna go to Walmart and find it. I just like the quality, it's it fits me nice. And for you to have nice things, like you wanna have to spend a little bit of money.
SPEAKER_01That's so it seems like it seems like you get to the point where you find the people that are willing to pay for your product and your crowd or whatever they call it.
SPEAKER_00And like I've had people ask me that tell me that like you're gonna sell to the people that are gonna buy from you. And honestly, today, just today, just leading up to coming here, I've met like four brand new people that I've never sold candy to. No kidding, wow. All it all it took was them asking me, and I was like, Yeah, man, I got you. And I've like I told her today, I was like, I've went to this place and this place, I've never met this person, met this person like face to face before. Wow, dude. But they spent you know 30 bucks from each one.
SPEAKER_01So that's so I mean that's just random. Yeah, so what do you so how do you get them to buy a second time? Uh how do you how do you stay at their mind so that the next time they're like instead of going to the store and get a pack of skills, they can be like, Oh, I remember that dude. You know what I mean? I mean, is it hard? Like, are you is that something you're working on now? I mean, because I noticed you you're you're in social media obviously a lot, and that seems like that that's a tool for you as well.
SPEAKER_00I'm I mean, honestly, like I posted and this person's like, Hey man, you got candy? Are you got candy? Can you drop off? I was like, Yeah, I am right now. Nice. Like, people were just asking me, even like when I got here, her brother texted her and was like, Hey, are you still having gushes?
SPEAKER_01So you're to that point where it's already there, they're already no, they already got your number basically.
SPEAKER_00They do, or like they because I posted like like I posted on my wasn't my story or status. I said, I'm dropping off right now, you know, get with me as soon as you can. Because I if I just stay home, I don't want to leave. I'd rather you come pick it up. But I understand the hassle is because I do live on the south side, I live in an apartment that you have to open up with a gate. Sometimes that gate don't open up, and I it's a headache for me. Like, I even if I like the DoorDash, I've done that where I gone to an apartment. I was like, Man, I hate coming to the places because then you can't you have to walk in there. But if I can deliver it to you and bring it to you, like I don't mind because I mean I'm already out and about like today. I was doing errands, I had to go drop off orders at the post office, I had to go get a haircut. I'm already out. I'm like, you're not hurting me anymore. Utilize this time while I'm out. Yeah, because like a lot of people's thing here in Corpus, like, and it's funny that they say, like, oh, you live on the south side, oh, you can you live far away. I was like, you know how much I would give if they said that in Houston is only 10 minutes away. I would love for it to be 10 minutes away. That's why whenever I was living in Houston and stuff like that, I would like if you order $50 or more, I'll go to deliver because I'm having to waste that minimum for that one, at least 45, 30 minutes there, and if 30, 45 minutes back, and then I gotta go. Like, yes, here I'll go to Cal Island back, and I ain't gonna give no, I ain't gonna share it. Like, that's not bad. I've done that with food, I've done that with you know, big orders, small orders. Like, I've gone for two, two, two things of candy. Sometimes that person might give me an extra five, ten bucks for like, hey man, here's for the drive. Wow, and like I don't even ask for that, they do that out of their own appreciation, their love, and like I appreciate that more. And like I don't expect that every time, but you know, they they're buying at least three or four containers on top of what they already paid.
SPEAKER_01So when someone someone outside of Texas tries your product for the first time, what's the reaction like?
SPEAKER_00I've only had like two people. Um, one from like I think it was uh North Carolina, and that was actually when I first moved out here in Corpus. I was trying to like make some money while I was here. Um she bought like a hundred bucks. And she bought like she bought candy, um, the sauce. Um do you sell the sauce individually? I can, but the the well, it's like the chamoy sauce. Like, so you know, like the rim dip that they do for beers? Okay. So like I used to do that. I used to I gotta find it. Uh I used to do that one a lot because uh I didn't like drinking, like I don't really like drinking now, like I could care less. But I did it um when I had that though, when I had the rim sauce to it. Um, but a lot of people things in Corpus or in Houston, they would do it um different flavors. I do cucumber, watermelon, strawberry, whatever, whatever. I don't have time for that. I can do it, I can I can make the flavors, I know how, but I don't have time for that. But I learned that if you combine my stuff at a certain way, it makes consistency like a paste. Okay. So, like what I did was it was an accident one day. I literally was making it, I was making something, and I accidentally made it, and it it hit enough to where people are like, Man, I use this on my drink. So I would do this, and I had it in bottles, and I'll make it with beer, nice stuff like that, and I had it in bottles, and even those, I was selling those for $15 a piece. Wow, man. And people would buy two, three at a time, they would save them, and literally every time they drink, they'll here they are, put another drink, they'll send me Snapchats of them doing it.
SPEAKER_01Is there yeah, yeah, yeah. Is there is there is there such a thing as too many items? Yes, so at what point did you decide, well, maybe I should just do this many?
SPEAKER_00Um, whenever whenever because I get the candy from Sam's, I'll get it from certain places. Whenever Sam stopped carrying straws, like Star Punch straws, okay, which now they do here, at least in the Sam's in Houston, they stop they stop carrying it for some reason. I would have to go to Costco, Costco would have only straws. And you're telling me I have to buy a Costco membership that's a hundred dollars a year, plus go like it's too much. So, like, I like honestly, you look back at my menu when I first started, I had like 12 different candies on there, had airheads, Starbursts, um, all kinds of shit that didn't sell, and that was the bad thing. I had all like the candy that you saw on my show. You're stuck with all the inventory, yes. All those candies that you've seen that was left, that was the candy that people didn't really care for. And I would still make a lot of it because I wanted that inventory. Wow. So like I started sticking to what I do best. That's why if you look in this bag right now, nothing but gushers, there's four Prings left. That's that's what your customers like. Gushers is like crack, yeah. Like that's that's what they want, and and I get it because I love the gushers. I can eat the gushers all day. Yeah, same here. Now, if you want to start thing, like someone text me yesterday, they're like, Hey man, do you do Starburst? I was like, I can, but I mean, you're telling me you want me to unwrap each candy, put my stuff on it, mix it up, and you want it that way. So, how do you it's funny, bro?
SPEAKER_01When you have a brand, people always have ideas, and no, and I and like I can do that, and there's people that yeah, no, for sure, for sure. I'm just wondering, like, how do you at what at what point do you like okay, I've already got my ideas? Well, how do you how would you handle how would you handle somebody that told you, hey, I got this idea?
SPEAKER_00So I so when he told me that I took I went to Google and I and I screenshot it with each different one, like the unwrapped, which is the mini stuff okay, okay, and then the regular size ones that are like it tells you like you have to individually unwrap it. I sent him screenshots and I said, if you want me to do this one, this is the price. If you want me to do this one, it's this price. He said, Okay, I'll get back to you. I mean, and that's fine, but like I'm just telling you, like, if you're gonna I gotta put gloves on and have to redo every little starburst, I'm gonna be mad because then they get stuck. That's the reason why I stopped doing airheads. Airheads are the same situation because you have to coat those and it doesn't stick right away. So I gotta like put uh wax paper in between each piece. Wow, and that got annoying.
SPEAKER_01So you're back, so so you're factoring in time, like what it takes to make the product, what's gonna sell, all that stuff.
SPEAKER_00I think now I do because it's not it's not that I don't like doing it. Trust me, I'll do candy all day. I used to do candy, I used to do candy 18 hours a day just to get ready for the next day and have everything stocked up. But nowadays, people hate waiting. People hate waiting more than they have to. Everybody loves convenience, even to this, even I do, yeah, and I'm pretty sure you don't. I I see a drive-thru, I'm like, fuck. Yeah, yeah. I don't want to go in there. I go to Sam's, I love Sam's, and I hate Sam's at the same time. Only reason why I love it is because they got the step checkout on your phone. Can it go walk out? If they didn't have that, I would hate going to Sam's. But everywhere else, like even at the mall, we I hate going to the mall because can't find shit in anyways. You can't find out clothes that you like. That's why I come to Lupas, honestly. Like, if I really want a shirt that I want, I'll tell Lupa, hey man, I got this design. Can you knock it out for me? I'm already paying $40 a shirt at the mall. Why would I want to pay $40 for a shirt that everybody else has when I come to Lupas and get a one-of-one uh shirt that you came up with?
SPEAKER_01Hey, it's a big dude. So, what shirt, what shirts do you? I use uh Pro Five, and then I recently got into the one you told me about. Uh uh, what is that? Uh Shaka?
SPEAKER_00Shaka, you still use Shaka? That's what I have on. Oh, this one, so this this brand right here is called Loiter. It's what we're both wearing. This is from um there's a website called as Culture Kings, and I like it because it has a lot of the has graphic tees, but it has modern day stuff. Like it has wrestling, they got anime, they got uh Pokemon. And they use Shaka, they use uh it's Shaka similar. So this is a crop oversized, so like it's fits me right in my waist. Okay, it's not a lot like a tall tee, but it's what uh lupe gets. Lupe can get these shirts too. Okay, if I really wanted to. Um, but his regular shakas, I used to get them from him. Um, or I'll go to there's WSS. Uh there's a place in San Antonio, those they sell pro clubs for like three for 30 bucks.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, for real. So like they'll use pro club too. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Like those are that's that big man energy right there. You little smoky, it's not even that, honestly.
SPEAKER_00Because well, the neck, dude, like I stacked freaking oh, I hate that, dude. So, like that's why I love these shirts, like hers, my like the ones that she had has on. There's another shirt that I have, like as long as the neck feels comfortable, and all his shirts, honestly. Um, I don't know if he has his old jackets, but there's regular shirts, they're all perfect. I love his the way they feel. Even when he wash them 10-20 times, they still feel the same.
SPEAKER_01What else? What's up?
SPEAKER_00Even like the the shorts that I have on right now, these are shaka shorts. Oh, no kidding. You can get anything you need them to. Um, yeah, he does like I've done some merch stuff. Like, I'm probably gonna, I suppose I was gonna talk to him a little bit, but uh do some merch to add to the website because I know I have some funny designs that I want to throw into it, and um probably well mean we'll partner up on it, we'll go half and half on it, yeah. Um, or even throw some of his stuff on there. But um, some people have asked me literally. I had a guy ask me earlier, hey man, you got any new merch? Because I had this Astros T that I made and Lupa made it for me like four or five months ago. And I'm no I I have like three shirts that I didn't drop, I just have them in my closet. I'll wear one every once in a while. But I want to make more of them and make you know merch with the merch merch start selling merch, like aside from the some from the say it's like a different. I'm gonna incorporate it because I had a brand that I've always thought about was called Fat Boys, and I was kidding to like the bigger size guys, like yeah, because I that was we we did a little skit together where like you know, you go to the mall, they got all these clothes, but they never have your size. Yeah, you come to lupus, and he can make you any size you want with the same design. That's the goal. Like, you want to because here in Corpus or any anywhere, they have all the same stuff. Like, you're you go to Walmart, there's literally thousands shirts of the same character, whatever. You come here, there's a lot of one-on-one stuff. Like these hoodies right here, yeah. These these uh jerseys, they're all one of ones, they're not anything. Like, if you get this one, that's probably the only one he made. Now he's gonna have to buy another one to make so that's why I like coming here. And if I have a design, I'll text Luke at like two in the morning. Yeah, dude. Hell yeah. I have this going on. He's like, Yeah, let's do it. So yeah, man.
SPEAKER_01Shout out to uh choose wisely for letting us use his space for this uh podcast episode. Also, shout out to Abundantly Brewed upstairs, uh 5802 Woolridge Road, um inside of the Texas Arena. You guys yeah, uh check him out when you get a chance, man. Dude, so wow, we got we got maybe like 20 more, we got 45 minutes. You want to keep going? Yeah, uh so the last time you're here, you were talking about last time we were you on the episode with us, you're talking about uh trap juice with uh Drew? Drew, yeah, yeah, yeah. Was is that still going or how's that?
SPEAKER_00Oh yes and no. I mean, it's there. I mean, we can always do it. Um, the only thing is we Drew's a busy guy. Drew's has like 20 million things going on one time, and you can't knock it because he's constantly making money, he's constantly making sales. He has a food truck, he has well technically he has like three food trucks, but and then he has his shop too that he's running, and that shop's been booming. Like I stopped today for lunch, there was nobody there. Five minutes later, boom, out the door. And he was slam and he I could tell when he's in a bad mood because his whole demeanor changes. I was like, Hey man, I gotta get ready for this podcast. I was like, I'll I'll hit you up later. I was like, love you. I was like, I was like, you'll be all right, you're good. He's like He looks at me, he's like, I'll try. And like I already know he's in a bad mood. So, but no, we just have a lot of stuff going on. Like I said, I I my schedule's a little weird, and like I haven't been able to cook, and and don't get me wrong, I love cooking. I love I love cooking. I love cooking all day. I I my things is if I'm so busy, like I just I get home like Sam, I gotta turn the stove on. So like but I I love cooking, and if that was the only thing I gotta do all day, I wouldn't get tired of it. Okay, it's just me dealing with customers at work and if there's situations that like you know escalate, have to fix it or whatever, and then I have to worry about the candy and making candy and this and that. Like, I'm like, fuck, there's a lot, it's a lot of stuff. It's a lot to handle, man. But I don't I don't mind doing the trap juice again. I even told Drew's like, let's do something. Like I had reposted the video a few, like maybe two weeks ago, and I was like, What are we trying to do? He's like, You tell me. I was like, all we gotta do is get some bottles and some labels, and we just knock it out. Like it's not hard. But I do have something coming up with uh David, uh D3 at Faded Vision. He's wanting me to like make something for him. So uh I he has everything, he just wants me to make the mix and everything. If that happens, I think after we post his, I'll do a I'll do like a quick drop, like a quick release of those, and I might do a pop-up like when I cook or something. Yeah. But the thing is, I'm trying not to do the big bottles like 16 ounces. I'd probably do like an 8 or 12 ounce for like I kind of want to direct it towards like kids a little bit more to kind of make it like a little quick drink. Yeah, um, that's the reason why I made it in the first place back when I started it, because I didn't want to keep buying sodas and selling sodas to kids, like not like it's bad, but like I feel like juice and candy go together more than soda and chicken candy. So, or Sprite, I guess you could do Sprite too, but I liked water and juice just because it's a little bit easier to sell, and parents love it like when they're like, Oh, it's a fruit juice drink. Like, why don't we go get this for the baby instead of buying a soda to give the baby? No, like a lot of moms nowadays don't want to do that, so kind of have to pay attention to whatever I saw.
SPEAKER_01I seen some of your posts, you were making some food, man, tacos and stuff. What is the body? Is it barilla? Yeah, is that what you call it?
SPEAKER_00Nah, well, I do video. I've I've done video once, like myself. Videa. And uh video, yeah. Okay, and that was good. Like, don't get wrong, like I'm marinate that meat, I'm cooking that meat for like 15-16 hours. Yeah, it looks really good. And I did it for Jonesy, he did it for his uh anniversary uh his shop. No kidding. And um, man, we sold out in like two hours. Wow, and people will still bring it up. Like, how people were like, hey man, you're making those. I was like, bro, that was like a one-time thing. Oh man, but my my main thing that I sell is uh pastor tacos, okay, yeah, yeah. Those are the main ones that what is that asada with a certain type of seasoning on it? No, pastor is pork. Oh, okay, oh okay, okay. Pastorda's pork, asada is beef, okay, boiled chicken, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, like my key thing with pastor is because it's cheap. It's not not cheap where like it's cheap meat, but it is pig. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, like, you can buy a lot of it to make a lot of it. Like, I would buy like you know, at the house, I'll buy like four or five pounds.
SPEAKER_01Dude, that's dude, you you just like gloss over that, like it's nothing. Cause it's like you you're you're thinking your your mind is like not only just the food, but like how I'm gonna how am I gonna make my money off of this? You know what I mean? It's just like how do you get to that point for some business owners? Maybe they might take some a minute to get there, you know what I mean? And it's just like, how do you I guess you have to I guess you have to be in a place where you need money, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00Like so I'm gonna I'm gonna tell a story about that because I I get that, and I'm gonna wrong, like I've and we paid bills and shit. We have $20 till next week, and we're like trying to figure out. I remember I told her one day and I woke up and man everything hit me at once at $30 my account, and I was like, fuck, I was so mad at myself. I was like, how did I get this? So all I did was I have this app where I usually do it for emergencies that I'll get like you know, you can borrow some money from for from your next check. And I borrowed 150 bucks from it, and I was okay, cool. Man, that was man. I wanted to cry at the end of the day because I told her, I was like, babe, I gotta make some money. I was man, I woke up, it was probably like eight, nine o'clock. I got everything. I started selling at like 11 12. My homeboys came over to help me sell. We went on the drive, we sold, I think like 32 plates that day. 32 times 15. We ended up making making your money back and some man, we 32 times 15, and I'm making 480. So I went from starting that day from three dollars, 30 on my account to making 480 and me minus that 150, but still that was over $300 that I had to make just to make sure we have money for the following week. And and I hate that it got that way, but it's because I was slacking off. I wasn't cooking consistently, but I knew in my head, like, okay, if I just spend $100 and stuff that I need, boom, I'll make some make some shake on that podcast.
SPEAKER_01So do you feel like you you need to be consistent in order to have it's in anything.
SPEAKER_00Anything, anything, same thing with you, like you you you doing these podcasts, you doing all of them. If you're consistent enough where you do them, like you know, say I'm gonna say every day, but every other day, but you have so many people that are on there that drop dry once once a week or whatever, whatever. You have all those people coming towards you, like, oh damn, like, yeah, because I mean I've I I I said your name today to somebody really and oh, really? Like, I'm like, I watched some of the stuff before, like, so like even that, like it's it's seen on somebody's Facebook or somebody's seen it somewhere, and so that's it's a consistent in everything. Like, I just had this talk with Drew the other day. He's like, Man, I want to be, I need a day off, bro. He's like, I was like, be closed on Mondays, take a Monday off, like just close every Monday. You Sunday's your busiest day because it's the day before school. Monday, you're kind of slow already, anyways. Just either people know that you're gonna be closed Monday, there's gonna be a shit ton of people Sunday, and a shit ton of people Tuesday because they missed you on Monday. And then he's like, Man, I have to because he said, But I don't want to miss out on money. He just came back from making having like an eight thousand dollar weekend, and I was like, Okay, I was like, but look at that eight thousand, like it's it's good, it's it's there, you know. If you take a day off, you're still gonna make that money back. And even for me, like I I if I'm consistent with this, and I've said this before, like, there was days where I would sell candy before, like when I first started, I was making like 100-150 a day and I was pre-investing that money, like I'll probably spend half of that back into the candy. But so, like, in reality, I'm making $75 extra every day on top of like if I sell more, so I'm making a good amount of money on the side, because I don't know if you ever heard that saying, like, I've told her, like, to live a good life or good, you know, bills are paid, you need to make at least you know $150 a day again work, like in my in my head. So if you can go out there number that you have a number, if you can go out there and say, like, I made $150 today, okay, but you gotta pay for gas, pay for your food, and shit, you know, whatever you use for the day. So if you at least make enough money to cover your expenses for that day as yourself and as a business, you did good. Positive. I always heard that saying where if you're 50% profit in anything that you're doing, that's where you want to be at. Anything less than that, you gotta rethink some things. At least, and when I first started this, I was at 80%. I was knocking out money. Wow, because but it's because the candy was at a cheap price. Candy's gone up. Like I was buying boxes of gushers for 10 bucks. Wow. Now they're 13. Holy crap. So I'm having to factor that price into even with the containers, the labels, the everything else. Like that, I'm already doing that math in my head. So I anything that we all do in life, as long as we consistent with it, like we'll be good. Same thing with the gym. I mean, the gym that's here. I mean, you're you go to the gym every day, you're consistent at least four or five times a week. Oh, yeah, you're gonna see results. Yeah, you come once a month, you're gonna you're not gonna do too much.
SPEAKER_01Dang consistency in life, bro.
SPEAKER_00So, like, and that's why the like consistency is always gonna be the biggest word in my life because the the recipe, the recipes to a T word consistency in the recipe, yeah. Like that doesn't change. That's the same recipe I've I've made and I've had since day one.
SPEAKER_01It's funny because you think it all tastes the same. I remember you telling me on I think on the other, you're like, I can't you're like, I can't believe people make this just with simple chamoy or yeah, because tahine or whatever you call it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so they uh because I mean you can go to the H of B right now, they sell chamoy in the big ass bottles. They sell tahin, yeah. They do. You can do it, go ahead. But I guarantee it, you're gonna look at me and like, why doesn't it taste the same?
SPEAKER_01It's missing well, dude. You know, you wouldn't think that, bro. Because it looks maybe because it looks the same.
SPEAKER_00No, no, and that's that's right. You gotta think about it. But you're gonna tell me you go to you go to two different taco trucks, order the same thing. Do you think they taste the same? Oh nah, or even three different ones because a lot of people always compare no like California tacos to Texas tacos, right? I'm like, they could be the same thing, but I guarantee you, if that person didn't marinate that meat a certain way or didn't cook it a certain way, I bet you it's gonna taste different.
SPEAKER_01So okay, that's the debate which tacos are better.
SPEAKER_00Fine all day month, all day long, all day long, and only and I only say that because and I I don't I hate to sound like I'm bragging, I don't want to be like I'm bragging, but I just it kind of messes with me because I just seen somebody's story or I forgot who it was. They posted a plate of tacos last night. And I'm not gonna say it looked bad, but I'm like the meat didn't look like it had flavor on it. It didn't like don't get wrong, like people people cover their stuff with hot sauce, cheese, whatever. My tacos are simple because we're and where I was raised at, the tacos we would get only had three different things on it. It had onions, cilantro, and salsa, that's it. And but the meat was always good. Here everybody's throwing all this extra stuff. Like, nah, I mean I'm wrong, I put hot Cheeto dust on mine to have a little kick to it, but that's just a little thing that I do. But man, I just I saw the thing has like a shit ton of powder cheese on it, and cilantro and a shit ton of salsa on. I was like, where's the meat at? Like, you don't even you're just tasting the hot, the hot. Like, I don't I don't get it. And even like when I cook too, the the flavor that I try to bring is everything is paired nicely, like the sauce, the the the toppings, like if I can like when I reheat the stuff in my house, like if I'm just making a quick talk, I'll make I'm cooking it the right way I want to, but I'm just putting sauce and some powdered cheese on it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, what point did you start taking pride in in like how how your stuff tastes? I don't know, babe. When did I start doing that? Because like I can make, I mean, how can you mess up an egg, right? I make I know how to make breakfast, you know what I mean? But it's it's simple, you know. No, no, but but how do you get to it's like damn, this is honestly it's like culinary art, the way you call it, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00But would you consider yourself a culinary artist? Yeah, you would. I would. Only reason why is because I she her joke to her friends and her family, she's like, I live with Gordon Ramsay. That's that's her favorite thing she loves to say. And I'm like, and I and I look at it because she's like, baby, what are we gonna eat? And I was like, No, don't worry, baby, I'm gonna cook. She's like, What are we gonna cook? Yeah, I was thinking that I was so thinking that. No, no, she what she says, she's like, Babe, what are we gonna cook? Or what are we gonna make? I was like, Well, in her head, she's like, Well, we got rice and chicken. So in my head, she's like, We got rice and chicken. I'm like, okay, but I was like, wait, hold on, hold on. I was like, Look, oh yeah, we had a you mess up rice and chicken, bro. No, no, no and like don't get it wrong, it's not wrong, but I'm like, in my head, my mom, I got my I'm like cooking for my mom. So what I thought about whenever she said the thing, I was like, my mom made some shit out of nothing. She like I I knew there was nothing in that cabinet, and my mom would make something, and I'm like, so in my head now, I'll I'll I'll go in there, I'll look at the cabinet for a bit. Okay, I got beans, I got this, I got this. I'll go to the freezer, I'll be like, okay, I got this, this, and this. Okay, wait, we got leftover this. All right, bet. So I'll like she's like, What are you gonna make? I was like, just go sit down. And then I forgot what I did one day. Uh shit, oh, I made a chipotle bowl. I mean, I ended up in I ended up having everything to make that I had the rice, mesalanto lime rice, chicken, I had some hot cheeto dust, I had the the refried beans, everything. And she's like, What the f she's like, when did you make the I was like, I don't know, just what we had, so but it but anything that I do like that, even if it's something even if I'm not selling it, I love making it. Wow, I love cooking it, I love coming up with an idea. Even the other day I told her we're gonna cook on Sunday, but we got busy. I forgot what we did, we ended up staying out later. But I was gonna make uh I wanted a chicken alfredo, but I wanted um crusted chicken, like crest crusted chicken, like I wanted to put some crust on it okay and dice it up and put it in a water, and she's like, Yeah, let's do that. I was like, Yeah, don't throw the oil, like I'm gonna reuse it, don't worry about that. And so she's like, so it's already Wednesday and I haven't made it, but still, like we've just been working all week, so like I just but it's still there, but that's always the idea that I want to make something, even like taco is like even she's like, just do this and this. I was like, hold on, but we gotta I gotta get the limes, I gotta get this. She's like, just make the damn taco.
SPEAKER_01Man, that's awesome, dude. And it's like, at what point do you decide? It seems like it's cheaper that way, too. No, it's not no, it's not you don't think so?
SPEAKER_00Hell no, damn, it's not it because you gotta think about it. It's you, your wife, and who else? Okay, my kids, two kids, two kids, so it's four of y'all, right? Yeah, how much do you spend if you go to McDonald's? 30, 40 bucks. Okay, we spent about 27. Okay, 30 bucks. What can you get at HCB right now for that same price? A whole bunch of stuff, like what? I don't know. You know how much meat is? Oh just meat alone, just meat alone. You gotta think about meat alone is anywhere from you know, chicken, like a regular chicken pack is anywhere from 12 to 15 bucks just that steak, beef, beef is another 20 bucks. So that already just took out your whole thing right there. Now you have about 10-15 bucks left with to get some sides, which don't get wrong, but you gotta the my time is very valuable.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I got if you're telling me I gotta spend the same amount of money, plus I gotta cook it. I'm not saying we're perfect, we we eat out probably like four times out of the week.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, no, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But it's not because we we're lazy, but shit, look what time we're about to get home. It's already eight, we're gonna get home, we're gonna probably we don't have time to go to H B, grab something or whatever, for sure. So that's that's the way we think about it. But don't get wrong, if you go to the grocery store, like you're getting groceries for the month, yeah. You know, if you yeah, I guess I'm looking at it like that. If you spend, you know, 250, right? 250, 300 bucks, and you bought like a hundred dollars worth of meat and you divide that up into like different meals, yes, that's fine. But yeah, think about it. If you if you just go for that day, you're spending at least 30-40 bucks just for y'all that day. So it'll equal it'll equal out equal the same thing you spend at H or spend at like one uh McDonald's or Whataburger, yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_01Same thing, dude. Yeah, so I so man, that's awesome, dude.
SPEAKER_00And I'm saying if you go to a food trip, I mean shit. Every food truck menu items at least 12 to 15 bucks a person. So, you know, 12-15 bucks, that's 24 to 30 bucks for two people plus some drinks, 35 bucks, same thing.
SPEAKER_01What was that saying you said about the food trucks? If it looks bad outside on the outside, if the food's good.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, if this ghetto is the best. I still say that even uh shit, where's it at? Um where's that stop place at? Yeah, like tacos goose mine. Yeah, I don't know if y'all know where that's at. Where's it at? It's off port. Okay, port. That's probably like I know I cook, I love cooking, but if I'm lazy and I'm drunk as hell at two in the morning, I'm going to talk as goose mine. I'm only saying that and I'll spend like 50 bucks. I'll buy like four different things just because I'm gonna eat that bitch later, anyways. We get like we get the she gets the lunches, I'll get the quesadillas, he'll have video there some dice, and then we'll get the the the load of potato, the loaded potatoes, and bomb loaded down. Loaded potato, bro? He has uh he'll put so I tell him to mix it for me, he'll put a pastor in the sala, and he'll dice up some sausage in it, and I'll have cheese and butter and stuff like that. Yep, man.
SPEAKER_01Sober, man. That's it. Dang, so you could be doing all this in Houston and Conroe, bro. How wide corpus? You can't, you can't because in the distance or what?
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, no, it's not even that. I mean, I don't live there, of course, but there is already too much that they do over there. Okay, like they like the candy I can do. There's nobody in Conroe that's doing the candy like I was doing it, even to this day. I still got the people that make the orders online. I can show you what their addresses. Okay. It's Conor, Newcaney, Porter. They're all people that I that I was friends with. I even resold some to some guy that I bought for me that used to buy for me all the time. I literally just pressed reset and it reset his stuff. Um, but they're not doing that. The food-wise, I wasn't cooking like that. The only thing I was cooking differently over there was wings. I did wings in Connor. Okay, and that was a little bit different because they weren't doing it the way I was doing.
SPEAKER_01So, what like too too much competition, or nothing?
SPEAKER_00Is that what you're saying? It's just oversaturated, like oversaturated, okay, okay. Too many of the same things.
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_00And like here, you can say that about here too, because man, there's like how many jaliscos here? Tacadillas, like there's a shit ton, but but I tell you the same thing. They all got the same menu, it seems like I was about to say that. They all got the same menu. And I tell her that if we go to the everywhere. I tell her, like, we go to uh where we went to. I was like, I'm gonna order the quesadillas because I want to see how they taste. I go to any new Mexican restaurant that we come here, I try the quesadillas first. Only reason why is because they're gonna want to see what cheese they're using, what tortillas they're using, and what meat they're using. Oh, those are the key things because when I make quesadillas, my meat's different. The cheese I get is the quesadilla meat, and it's always the big ass flour tortillas that I'm using. But it's always the flavor in the meat that sets everything apart. I can tell all these restaurants get their meat from the same place because it's not seasoned the same, but it's because they're just throwing some spices on it, they're not, it's not marinated. So like it's not sitting there like the place I buy my meat from, I don't know how long that shit's been marinating, but I cook it and I don't really have to touch it with any seasoning. I might throw some like giving away the chair, bro. You gotta have it marinated, dude. No, that's that's anybody, but that's anybody, that's anybody. Like, if you like because if you go to there's a biggest thing, you like um do you like canes? Uh no, I haven't been there on it. But okay, they're a secret behind their chicken. If you were to go get cane's chicken shrips and you go get Chick-fil-a's things, do you think they'll taste the same? Probably not. You want to know why? One's marinated? The the brine, the chicken at Chick-fil-A is brined with like pickle juice. The ones at Canes isn't. So if you were to get a tender or even oh, I mean they chicken sandwiches, fucking tenders, anyways. But if you do the tenders at Cane's to Chick-fil-A, there you could taste the big difference. It doesn't matter the sauce. If you just barely if you eat it with no sauce, you can tell that it's not marinated. And that's that's that's what I'm saying. Like that's chicken though, but same thing with beef, steak, anywhere else? Yeah, yeah, for sure. If they're not marinating and doing it the same way, you're gonna taste it completely different.
SPEAKER_01Too. So also all the all the Mexican restaurants are the same. I mean, I guess what so the taco trucks are the ones that usually put more thought into their meat and stuff like that, yeah. Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_00Because they they know they gotta make make it taste a little different, a little better.
SPEAKER_01So, does does the city deserve what you're building here, or are you building it because it needs it, whether it knows it or not?
SPEAKER_00I mean, I want to build something that's I'm not saying I'm I'm better than anybody because there's a lot of people that make some stuff that are better than mine. Like, you know, everybody's making those video balls, the Hachita ones. Yeah, I've tried it, it's not my thing. I'm not saying it's hard, it's just it's not my thing. Like everybody that does it, I've I have a few people on Facebook that do it, I can't remember their names, but do it, it's good. I mean, I've tried a couple, even Jesse at Boracho's tacos, like he's always selling out in that thing, and that's because his truck is fairly new, and he's already over 10,000 followers on Facebook on his page. And that's that's great, that's awesome. And I'm I'm so proud of them because of how much he's grown since he's been here or since he's been selling the food truck, and I've supported him too. Like, I man, I gotta freaking, you know, when they call your number, it's on my truck because I forgot to give it back to him. But uh I told him he's like, Man, I'm forgetting that. He's like, use it next time. But no, it's just a lot of people just it's just the thought to do everything. Like, I my goal is and I make a joke out of this. I told her too, I was you know, the the the bonnet on custors, okay. You know, it has that has the roof and everything, yeah. Yeah, yeah. My goal is to reopen that, not as a bonnet, but in my place. Hey, only reason why I want it because the way that the area that it's in, oh the way that it the way that it's set up, the way that I would like bring a vibe out there at night, because you gotta think about Eddie's is next door, and there's what whatever's down the street, but Eddie's is next door, they close at like two, three o'clock every day. If I were to come in and open at like three o'clock till one or whatever, twelve o'clock, should I bring the vibes through the night? Like, I dang and it's not even like a restaurant, I just would like you come grab some food or fast because my favorite place to this day that she's put me on is uh Taquitos West in San Antonio. And the reason why I love that place is because the way it way it is, you literally walk, man. That line could be down the street, but you know you're about to wait for some food because the way they have their system, their literally system is you walk in to place an order, each order comes with five tacos. Your decision is to what kind of meat you want. And they only have pastor on the weekends. So, like, let's say I walk in, I want three pastor, two, two asada, boom, boom, they're literally real fast, giving it to you. Go sit down. And then they have a wait waiter or waitress come sit down or come take your drink order, they bring your drink. As soon as you're done eating, they'll come grab your food or your trash and you go pay and you walk out. That's it. That's simplistic. And it's and it's just and the each plate is 10 bucks.
SPEAKER_02Damn.
SPEAKER_00And five tacos. There are many tacos, don't get me wrong, they're many toggles. But shit, I'll get to like my orders. I get two plates, I'll get one, come eat. I'll go back in line, get another plate. She'll eat hers. Maybe she'll get another one depending on what she gets. And I get an Orchata and then that's the night.
SPEAKER_01Do you think that's a key ingredient? Simplicity.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Everybody, anybody, I'm not trying to knock anybody as a food truck here, but I guarantee that if you if you open up a food truck or food spot that only has five to ten, five, ten, eight items on their menu, that's all you need. Look at canes itself. Canes sells one thing, tenders. Only thing they do differently is they do a three, four, six count. That's it. Wow. And look how busy their line is. Their line is off SPID every day. Wow. And you look at who else has it? Anybody has a short menu? It's it's simplistic. It's all it is. That's when we said about what how many candies did you make before? I overshot it because I wanted variety. I wanted people to have more items. I wanted them to try everything. But why? Just do five or six items. And if you if if they want, let's say they do want starburst, right? Right. I'm like, I can make it, but I'm gonna have to charge you a little more because I don't make them all the time. It's a one-off. I gotta go off and go get that. And same thing with the food. Like I always talk about it. Like, I if I cook, I either do pastor asada or or chicken, I do all three, or I'm just doing one or the other.
SPEAKER_01That's it. What man, what does a typical customer of of Zay's uh look like? What do you mean? Like what is your what is your what is your customer look like? What would like is it all types of customers? All kinds of people.
SPEAKER_00I've seen I've managed even at the nest, there's a there's like a a group of like older people, like they're like in their 60s, 70s, they love my food. Yeah, if they know I'm gonna be there, they're like, hey, when are you gonna be ready? They'll pre-pay everything, they'll pay whatever two or three plates, and then I'm like, hey, I'll be the they're the first ones.
SPEAKER_01I'm still trying to set up, but I'm do you still have a brand like a name for your your food, or you're still kind of trying to figure that out, like the like an umbrella. Because you got the candy, you want to do the apparel, and then you want to do well.
SPEAKER_00My thing is just Chef's Day is the persona that's okay. Oh, okay. I forgot about that. Chef's Days, and then everything else kind of I kind of called it like the Big Back Kitchen because like nice, because it's just snacks, food, and that's cool. That's the joke we have. We've we've had a family group together that's big backs unite. Like, you've had it's cool, and I but it's a joke because even people are making big back packs, like you know, food packs and stuff like that. Like, I I get it, it's funny. It's actually when you see it like that, it's pretty cool. Um, but uh yeah, everything is kind of under there, and it kind of goes with the name Fat Boys, like you know, goes with that. Like I'm trying to keep it like I'm not trying to, you know, make being big a thing, but or famous, but it's just funny, and as long as you're having a good time with it, you can't really like be judged, I guess. I just want it to be a good good time. That's what's up, dude. It's awesome, man.
SPEAKER_01Wow. Uh so what's so I guess we're we're wrapping it up here. Uh, what's so what's dropping next? Do you have anything in in uh down the pike coming coming down?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I just I'm gonna see where it takes me. I'm just trying to I'm trying to go good with the candy where I'm where it's consistent. Website sales are doing consistently where they're like you know making X amount a day or maybe a week really. I can't say a day because okay, okay. One day's probably dead, next day I'm selling out or something. But as item-wise, I think I'm gonna bring back the drinks. That's probably gonna be the next thing as soon as I kind of get some things together, and then on top of that, I'll probably I don't know, I'll probably do some pop-ups with the snacks, like the like I told you, I did the load of pickle. Okay, and I just tried out the chamoy taco. That one was pretty cool. Oh, chamoy taco. Yeah, that one was pretty cool. Oh, yeah, being there, bro. That was nice. That was because I was buying, I was restocking, and I was at the store and they had it on sale. And I was like, I remember I was a also side note when I when I did the competition, I won it the following year in 22. I ended up being a judge for the competition shit. The next year they were being all creative, they made sushi, they made all kinds of stuff out of chamway. They had cut a cucumber, made it like the sushi roll. Like, it was pretty dope. So, like I realized they had made those kind of tacos, and I was like, damn, now I know how to make them too. Yeah, so I maybe maybe I'll I want to try to do pop-ups with the candy again. That was pretty cool. I just haven't had time. I know um here the arena is having um some event coming up for Father's Day, I think. Um, I know there's some other places too, but I've been seeing more candy people come out, and I'm not saying I'm gonna step on anybody's toes, but like even Drew was like, Yeah, it was like the the person that was there last week, they were young, wherever they're trying to like start the stuff. Like, see, I would I would feel bad if I tried to like not compete with them, but also like I'm not gonna bash them for trying to do the same thing I'm doing. Yeah, I'm I've already have a market, I have people that sell too. I'm not gonna try to like no, don't try theirs because they're not me. I would encourage them to try them. Like, that's you know, that's probably all they have. Like, that's probably all the money they're making.
SPEAKER_01It seems like there's a lot of that going around, like as far as like people like gatekeeping, that's what the people call it. As far as but do you think there's do you look at it from like this could be anybody can do this or only a certain few so it's not even that I I I can say it's not gatekeeping because you can I can tell you exactly how I do the candy.
SPEAKER_00Your your job would be to actually try to do it, okay.
SPEAKER_01Sell it, market it.
SPEAKER_00No, but to put all the other stuff, okay. Like if I were to tell you exactly how I make the sauce, the seasoning, and where you have to go to find each thing, because you can't just go to one place to buy it, you gotta go to three other stores, yeah, yeah, yeah. And so if I were to tell you that, you think you would like damn, do this what he does. Like, I ain't trying to do this. Like, and I've told that I've told people exactly Do I really want to do this?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Now, if you were like you're that type of person, like, no, I'm gonna try to steal his clientele because I'm gonna try to do the same thing he's doing. I guarantee you you're gonna try to do a shortcut and it's not gonna be the same. That's the bad thing about a lot of people trying to like say they're copying or they're doing the same thing they're doing. Oh wow, you can do the same thing, that's fine. But if you're getting cheap quality stuff, you're doing um like you know, you're buying cheap material, cheap quality stuff, you're it's not gonna come out the same. I guarantee you, like, I'm not saying mine is the best ever in the world, but I guarantee you the ingredients that I put into my stuff compared to what people put into theirs that make it real fast, it's not the same. Yeah, that's what's a key difference in like the not being like them. That's it. There's no other Zay, there's no other Zay. That's that was the joke too. Before it was like, if it ain't Zay's, it ain't Zay's, though. Or like, you know, if it ain't Zay's, it ain't the way, or like that's just the way that it is because like I said, there's people that have tried other people's, and like I've had my friend that went to Mexico or went to the valley, they bought some like bro. I tasted and it after tasted yours, it doesn't taste the same. Like, I can't. Yeah, there's no like equal flavor to it, it's just it's either too hot or too sour, too. Like, I don't know, there I was like, I know mine's a very perfect blend of everything you want, and that's that's it.
SPEAKER_01Nice, man. So when I'm at episode 200, where's Zay's dulce is at? I don't know. What episode is this? This is episode 106, 107, somewhere around that.
SPEAKER_00So I got 93 episodes to go through. Hopefully, I got the place like a store, so I'm always slinging stuff out there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That'd be the goal. Because honestly, that I we always pass it, and I'm always like, Man, if I just knew who owned this and if I knew how much it was or whatever, if I could remodel it, all you gotta do is give me a grill, a fridge with a meat, and a holding tank. Oh, we're good. I'll be slinging tacos out there every day.
SPEAKER_01Dude, that's what's up, bro. So before I'll give you the last word of what's uh uh is there anything you want to share or any advice you'd like to give people out there or before before uh before we wrap it up?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I think the only thing I can say is I've been I've been saying it all day, I guess, being consistent, being being you, trying not to do something like you're not you know accustomed to doing. And as long as you're happy doing it, like it don't matter if you if you pick up dog shit all day, you you do uh that's your favorite thing to do, go ahead and do it, but do it with a smile. That's all you gotta do. Like it doesn't matter what you do, as long as you love to do it, don't judge nobody. Like at the end of the day, like I'm gonna treat you the same respect as anybody else, but just be happy doing what you do, and everything will be good. Like, I I've I've I've changed the way I've thought a lot. Like, I've I'm not saying I was better than nobody, but at least I'm we're we're anybody can be friends, anybody can be close to somebody, but I want to make sure everybody can be happy. Like, if I could support everybody, trust me, I if I was you know, I had enough money, like I would love to I would buy lupus stuff every day, I'd buy food from every food truck here in town. I mean, I do don't get wrong, I go to places on my off days, I go spend money where I have to spend money at. If they want to like give me something on them, I mean I don't ask for it, that's cool. But I love spreading love and attention to everybody. Like, I'm probably gonna ask Lupa, let me buy this hat from her for 17 because um that was one of our friends that passed away just recently. So, like those things mean a lot to me, and like ever since that happened, I think that really kind of struck a chord where like you never know what's gonna happen the next day. His his biggest message right now is like you know, you don't need to feel alone because like everybody takes these drugs to feel a certain way, and you don't have to if you have that support system where we're at. Like, if you have your girlfriend, you have your friends, you have your family, and I get it. Sometimes you're falling out with your friends, your family because of some other bullshit that you're going through. At the end of the day, your best friend's probably the only person you have, and that's it, you know. Or if you have kids that your daughter, your son, that's something you can focus on. Focus on that. You don't need that pill, you don't need that drink, you don't need anything that's not supposed to be there. Because I've been in situations where I've lost friends in the same situation off an accident, and like they didn't know they weren't gonna wake up the next day. So, like in this day and age, like I'm not saying I'm the best, like I do my things, but like I don't pop pills, I don't do drink, I don't do these things. I do what I do because I love to do it and I love my friends, I love my family. Without them, I wouldn't be doing any of this. I if I was if I didn't care about nobody, I'll just stick to myself and stay home and not do nothing.
SPEAKER_01Yes, sir.
SPEAKER_00And um, but yeah, that's about it. Just you know, be happy with what you do. You just love everybody. That's the only thing I can say.
